Specialist, Virtual Guarding & Robotics

Job Description:
The Specialist, Virtual Guarding & Robotics leads a new sub-division of the Company’s Guarding Services, sitting alongside Contract Guarding and Mobile Patrol Services, and reporting to the Director, Security Services.

The sub-division has been established to develop a new higher-margin, recurring-revenue streamthat supports and strengthens the Company’s contract guarding business. Advanced guarding solutions, principally Virtual Guarding, are designed to offset the rising cost of manned guarding while preserving, and where possible improving, the security posture delivered to clients. The intenis not to reduce manpower on client sites but to layer technology alongside existing guarding, giving clients a stronger overall service at a more sustainable cost.

The sub-division also carries a public-safety mandate. The Company’s emerging drone, ground-robotics, and autonomous-maritime capabilities are being developed as force multipliers for the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, HM Customs, coast-guard operations, and other public-safety agencies in the Cayman Islands.

Reflecting the individual’s cross-cutting technical background, the role also holds a company-wide mandate for Research and Development, and provides technical support and expertise to other divisions on request.

Reporting Line and Organisational Context:

  • Reports to: Director, Security Services.
  • Direct reports: initially none. A small delivery team may be built out as the sub-division scales.
  • Sister sub-divisions within Guarding Services: Contract Guarding and Mobile Patrol Services.
  • Peer relationships: guarding operations managers within Security Services; the Director of Operations; and divisional leads across Cybersecurity, Integrated Security Systems, and Cash Solutions.
  • Key external relationships: the Company’s specialist virtual guarding channel partner; drone, robotics, and autonomous-maritime OEMs, integrators, and service providers; the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and other Cayman law-enforcement and public-safety agencies; the Civil Aviation Authority and maritime regulatory bodies; and contract guarding clients into which Virtual Guarding is being deployed.

Principal Accountabilities:
Virtual Guarding: Commercial Growth and Delivery

  • Position Virtual Guarding as a value-added layer on top of existing contract guarding, framed and communicated as a security enhancement rather than a manpower reduction.
  • Grow Virtual Guarding as a recurring-revenue stream by embedding it in new contract guarding proposals and by upselling it into existing guarding accounts.
  • Manage the Company’s virtual guarding channel partnership, ensuring service quality, agreed commercial terms, and coordinated go-to-market.
  • Own the commercial pipeline for Virtual Guarding, from qualification through to closure, in partnership with Sales and Marketing.
  • Personally manage key Virtual Guarding accounts during the launch phase, ensuring a high-touch customer experience and rapid resolution of any early-stage service issues.
  • Contribute to the defensibility and competitiveness of the Company’s wider contract guarding portfolio through the layered guarding proposition.

Drones, Robotics, and Autonomous Maritime

  • Develop the Company’s offer of drones, ground robotics, and autonomous-maritime platforms as force-multiplier capabilities for Cayman Islands law enforcement, coast-guard operations, customs, and other public-safety agencies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with drone, robotics, and autonomous-surface-vessel OEMs, integrators, and service providers.
  • Manage regulatory compliance across each capability, including drone operating authorisations under the Civil Aviation Authority and maritime authorisations as applicable.
  • Support tender responses and government-facing proposals in which these capabilities are relevant.
  • Ensure that all deployed capabilities meet safety, operational, and reputational standards from initial deployment.

Sub-Division Operational Excellence

  • Ensure operational excellence across the sub-division: SLA adherence, incident response quality, first-time-right service delivery, and consistent customer experience.
  • Set the operational cadence for the sub-division (daily, weekly, and monthly review rhythms).
  • Report sub-division performance and pipeline to the Director, Security Services, and to the Executive as required.

Research, Development, and Technical Support (Company-Wide)

  • Serve as the Company’s technology scout, evaluating emerging tools, platforms, and vendors relevant to any service line.
  • Lead structured evaluation of new service opportunities across the Company, working with divisional leads on business case, technical feasibility, and commercial return.
  • Maintain a Company-wide Research & Development roadmap, reviewed with the Executive on a regular cadence.
  • Provide technical support, expertise, and second-line problem-solving to other divisions on request, drawing on the individual’s cross-domain technical background.
  • Serve as a technical resource for tender responses, complex client requirements, and cross divisional projects.
  • Represent the Company at industry technology events, and stay abreast of developments across the security-technology landscape.

Year One Deliverables
Specific milestones, targets, and review cadence will be agreed in the annual performance plan.

Indicative Year One outcomes include:

  • Commercial launch of Virtual Guarding, with a documented base of contract guarding accounts receiving Virtual Guarding as a layered service, and demonstrable margin or retention uplift on those accounts.
  • Completed development plan for drones, robotics, and autonomous-maritime capabilities, with at least one pilot deployment or formal engagement with a Cayman Islands law-enforcement or public-safety agency.
  • An approved Research & Development roadmap, with at least two structured technology or vendor evaluations completed and presented to the Executive.
  • A visible, working pattern of cross-divisional technical support, evidenced by successful contributions to tender responses and cross-divisional projects.
  • No material adverse customer or reputational events attributable to the launch of the sub-division.

Ongoing Success Measures

  • Recurring revenue and gross-margin contribution from Virtual Guarding.
  • Contract guarding account retention and win-rate improvements attributable to VirtualGuarding being offered as part of the layered service.
  • Reputation and scale of the Company’s public-safety technology contribution in the Cayman Islands.
  • Client satisfaction across Virtual Guarding accounts, measured through a formal customer feedback mechanism.
  • Number and quality of Research & Development evaluations delivered against the roadmap.
  • Volume and value of technical-support contributions to other divisions, measured through cross-divisional feedback.

Required Experience and Attributes
Essential Experience

  • Substantial multi-year experience in technology-enabled security services, spanning technical, commercial, and operational roles.
  • Deep hands-on technical background in security systems, installations, monitoring platforms, or related technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to launch or scale a new service line in a commercial environment, or clear potential to do so with appropriate support.
  • Experience managing partner and vendor relationships in a technology context, including channel or white-label arrangements.
  • Track record of client-facing engagement and commercial delivery.
  • Familiarity with the Cayman Islands security market, and existing relationships with Cayman law-enforcement or public-safety agencies, are strong advantages.

Personal Attributes

  • Technically credible and commercially fluent, able to move between customer, vendor, and government-agency conversations without loss of pace.
  • Structurally rigorous, with a natural eye for standards, process, and continuous improvement, but pragmatic in application.
  • Confident working across divisional boundaries and influencing peers without direct authority.
  • Personal ownership of outcomes; comfortable being accountable for the reputation of new services in a small, closely watched market.
  • High integrity, discretion, and professional presence.
